UNILORIN Achieves Full NUC Accreditation for 36 Courses

UNILORIN

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has once again proven its academic excellence by securing full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 36 out of 37 programs submitted for review. Only Hausa (under the Faculty of Arts) received interim accreditation, while no program was denied approval.

This achievement follows the NUC accreditation exercise conducted in October and November 2024, with the official results communicated in a letter dated 30 April 2025 to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.

What Full and Interim Accreditation Mean for Students

  • Full Accreditation: The program meets all NUC standards in teaching quality, facilities, staffing, and curriculum. Degrees from fully accredited courses are widely recognized for employment, further studies, and professional certifications.
  • Interim Accreditation: The program meets most requirements but needs minor improvements before full approval. Students in such programs can still proceed with their studies while the university works on enhancements.
