Federal Colleges of Education Granted Degree-Awarding Status

In a landmark move to improve teacher training in Nigeria, the Federal Government has announced that Federal Colleges of Education (FCEs) can now award Bachelor’s Degrees in Education alongside the traditional Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

This change comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023 into law. The reform is part of a broader strategy to enhance teacher education and ensure Nigeria’s educators meet global standards.
